On behalf of the OECD and the International Fiscal Association- India branch, we invite you to the International Tax Conference "At the Crossroads of Tax Co-operation, which will take place in Mumbai, the financial capital of India, from January 23-25, 2008.

This conference will mark India's escalation as an observer to the OECD conference on fiscal affairs, thereby increasing her participation in international tax affairs. This development which has been welcomed by the tax community, both in India and abroad, will be mutually beneficial to India and the OECD. It is another sign of India's increased importance in the world economy.

An exceptional group of speakers from various countries will be participating in this conference. Representatives from the Government of India have also accepted to participate in organisation of the conference. The speakers will address a number of various practical topics related to tax treaties and transfer pricing, comparing India's approaches with the principles put forward in the OECD model tax convention and transfer pricing guidelines. The conference will be of particular interest for tax professionals involved with cross border investment, and business activities in India.

The venue for the conference is J.W. Mariott Hotel, an unique 5 star hotel located on one of the most popular and largest beaches in Mumbai, overlooking the warm waters of the Arabian Sea.  At this time of the year, weather is pleasant in Mumbai, and this would also be the best time to visit other parts of india.

We therefore invite you to attend this conference to get a better understanding of international tax issues related to investing, or conducting business in one of the fastest growing countries in the world.

We look forward to welcoming you in person in Mumbai next January.
